I'm reposting an email Kim sent out because I think this discussion should be preserved into the future:
| Quote: | Hi everyone,
Those of you who can read Chinese may find this interesting. It's about a "Doggy Club" started up by some studetns at Fu Jen University. I'm having a friend translate it for me into English. I'm quite interested in starting a student animal/CNR club at my university and am looking for ideas. There are so many dogs up here on Yang Ming Shan!
Laurence, I know you're busy with the newsletter right now, but when you're done can you get in touch with that guy at NTU who is part of some kind of animal club?
Also, if anyone else know of any other groups like this please let me know.

And Laurence's reply:
| Quote: | Dear all,
About the dog's club in NTU, it is easy for me to contact with those students.
Currently, my personal understanding of my school's dog club is that: they have already been doing CNR. I have once edit a Chinese Wiki tag CNR http://tinyurl.com/2a2ol3 , and some of the members even contributed to this tag.
Is there any plans or project that sounds organized or has had a basic model? If we have already come up with this kind of ideas, for example, a project that we are going to shoot and it needs student, then I can ask them directly. Thus, if you have any questions about this club, just tell me.
For my personal understanding of dog's CNR, there are two main problems. One is that if we only release the neutered dogs, they still suffered from many pains and dangers. If we want to release dogs in some areas, we have to also find some people in that areas who like dogs to take care of these dogs. They do not need to really "take care of" the dogs, just feed them is enough. The other is about dogs' excrement. One of the case I have read from newspaper is that the people who conducted CNR also placed some boxes at some locations to let volunteers to clean the dogs' excrements.
I believed that dogs' CNR is not as easy as cats', primarily because of the dogs' characteristics. ( I have debated dogs' CNR with some people. ) Well, I still strongly support it.
